GMAT preparation at the University of St.Gallen
The St.Gallen MBA Admissions team, working closely with GMAT experts, has developed a weekend GMAT training seminar. The seminar is intended to provide potential MBA candidates with the opportunity to gain expert GMAT advice and training in order to reach the minimum score of 650 required for the St.Gallen MBA. The program is held in the MBA building and participants will have the opportunity to interact socially with current MBA participants after class. The seminar exploits the GMAT's standardized and predictable nature and helps students recognize traps and eliminate wrong answers. It uses elements from game theory, logic, and even common sense to deconstruct the test and manage its multiple-choice format. Of course, the seminar also focuses on basic grammar and arithmetic skills. It provides smart test-taking strategies and time management skills enabling participants to 'beat the curve'.
The fact that many participants are not native English speakers is taken into account. It shows non-natives where they have advantages, for example, by more easily recognizing and eliminating emotionally charged answer choices. The weekend seminar has successfully lifted numerous applicants over the 650 hurdle and has been cited as useful and efficient practice by members of the current and former MBA classes.
Who is it for?
This Prep course is suitable for those GMAT takers who have completed at least 10 hours of self study and one practice test. The course is not designed for complete beginners.

| Nicholas Barnard is a St.Gallen MBA alumnus and member of the Media and Communications Class of 2003. He brings a dual international background in education and finance.
He began his career as a trader for the Globalvest/Latinvest group, the largest private investor in Latin American telecoms. From the company's Rio de Janeiro offices, he served as private equity analys acquiring 11 companies throughout Latin America in partnership with GE Capital and Intel. Mr. Barnard currently works as a business analys in the EU/ESA Galileo satellite project, identifying downstream services and applications for the Galileo network.
A passionate educator, he was a lecturer in European Languages at the University of Hawaii for 2 years where he earned a Master of Arts. He is a native of St. Croix, Virgin Islands and speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish and German. |
