Fundamentals in the energy business

Business activities in the European electricity and natural gas markets are considered as both markets undergo a liberalization process. The goal of this course is to familiarize practitioners with the major challenges in the energy industry.

This elective shall enable you from an executive perspective to keep up with the latest in climate and energy sciences, to determine the exposure of an industry and eventually to translate climate change and energy related drivers into the language of strategic management and its frameworks.

 

corporate ecology and sustainability

This module will jointly explore how and where Sustainability and especially Ecology is emerging as a disruptive driver of corporate strategy, affecting business models and challenging current management practices. This module was designed as a Crash-Test for Executives because we assume and believe that you already have acquired the fundamental understanding of what makes up for good management and we want to provide you with a training ground to practice and synthesize your knowledge and skills with a focus on Corporate Sustainability.

 

entrepreneurship

This course is designed to provide each student with a comprehensive overview of the theory and practice of entrepreneurship including a detailed look at the characteristics of entrepreneurs, the entrepreneurial process, key financial decision-making strategies, and terminal events.

 

business plan writing (half course)

This module focuses on the process involved in building a compelling business plan and the ability to sell it. It is based on the development of a group project based on ideas selected among participants, and supported by lectures, discussions with entrepreneurs and presentations.

 

high tech venturing

This seminar will provide students with the conceptual knowledge and methods for the development of sound business models in high-tech industries. The course provides a comprehensive, cross-functional perspective with the interface to several management disciplines.
