This module introduces the ways in which accounting systems are structured and work in reality. Essential parts of financial statements (the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, notes, etc.) are introduced. Key topics include performance measurement, how effective control structures can be built, and how risk management, internal audit and cooperation with external auditing can be optimized. Special attention is paid to the interpretation of financial information and annual reports. The main conceptual subject matters will be presented by means of lectures and real life cases. All discussions will take internal differences as well as emerging trends into consideration.
