Global Business Environment
Course Title: Global Business Environment
- Lecturer: Prof. PhD Simon Evenett
Location: St.Gallen
The principal goal of this course is to improve your ability to identify, analyze, and execute strategies in the fast-changing global business environment. This course prepares senior managers for the diverse set of circumstances found in the global economy now and in the years to come. Not only are there marked differences across the business climates of the industrialized economies, where it is important to remember that many U.S. multinationals still make most of their profits, but the circumstances in the emerging economies demand attention, too. The latter economies are not only rich potential sources of greater sales for Western multinationals but, increasingly, the home base for vigorous competitors that are now breaking out on to the world stage. There have been significant advances during the past two years in our understanding of how these so-called "emerging giants" compete and I want us to take the opportunity to draw out the lessons for the strategies of firms established in world markets. The focus of this course, then, is on how to compete globally and consequently the most important goal is to adapt and deepen your corporate strategy skills to the evolving demands of the global economy.
