Team Dynamics

Course Introduction

Team Dynamics is the first topic covered in our MBA programme, and this is for a very good reason: during the 2-year MBA programme, you will spend plenty of time working and learning in groups. Your group peers will be the main source of your knowledge. They will challenge you the most. Your overall programme experience will be pretty much coloured by how well you handle yourself in a group setting, and to what extent you will be able to transform the group into a high-performing team. The MBA class is a simulated international work environment, with significant diversity in nationalities, cultural backgrounds, and industry experience. Being part of such a class, will really stretch you to radically question some of your behaviours and competencies, both technical and social. This is where you really start to learn about yourself. The purpose of this course is, thus, to guide you in how to perform well in teams.

Part 1: Outdoor Day, during which you will experience real-time team situations

Part 2: Reflection Day, during which you will be able to reflect on what happened the day before, and to zoom in some key team management frameworks:

  • Stages of Team Development
  • Managing for High Performance Teams
  • Team Diversity and Team Communication

We will then have some fun with learning how to overcome the “5 Dysfunctions of a Team”.
