Prof. Dr. Karolin Frankenberger is Dean of the Executive School of Management, Technology and Law and Academic Director of the Executive MBA HSG as well as Chair and Director at the Institute of Business Administration (IfB-HSG) at the University of St.Gallen. Previously, she was an assistant professor at the University of Lucerne and the Institute for Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen, and spent almost seven years at the management consultancy McKinsey & Company.
Prof. Dr. Karolin Frankenberger received her doctorate in 2004 from the Institute of Management at the University of St.Gallen and was a visiting researcher at Harvard Business School and the School of Business at the University of Connecticut.
Her research focuses on business models, (digital) business transformation and sustainability. Her book, "The Business Model Navigator," has been translated into several languages and is considered a standard work in the literature on business model innovations.
In addition to writing a highly influential book, Karolin regularly gives keynote speeches, webinars, and interviews on topics such as business transformation, digital transformation, ecosystems, and sustainability. In May 2019, she was voted Thinker of the Month for May by the renowned organisation Thinkers50.
